subURBAN ART Walk in Naperville and an iPad, too?

I'm awaiting my venue assignment but just a heads up that I will be among the juried artists selected to show their work around Naperville on the afternoon of June 16th, 12-4, at the (sub)Urban Art Walk. 

This art walk has a fun twist...visitors to the event can vote for their favorite works and be entered into a drawing to win in iPad for doing so. (The winner of the People's Choice Award will also receive an iPad.) In order to be eligible for the drawing, you have to visit at least 10 artists. Sounds like it's going to be a great event. I'll post more details as I have them.

In other Naperville news, my work is up in Starbucks on Jefferson until 5/30. After that I will be showing my work July-Sept at Arbor Vitae and then Elate Salon. Specific dates and details when time gets closer...

Where I am this month...

You can see my work in person at the Starbucks in Naperville (on Jefferson) through May. I have to say, it looks pretty awesome on their grayish-blue walls.  All the pieces you see (the 4 pictured) are for sale ($120 each). Contact me directly if you are interested in acquiring one. (And don't worry about waiting until the month is over, I can always hang other work at Starbucks if someone grabs one of these. My sock monkey are getting the itch for some fresh air...

And, of course, you can see me always at Fortunate Discoveries in Chicago (Lincoln Park). This display was a fun one to hang. Maybe it's the Springtime, but the butterflies and poppies (that large purple matted photo is a closeup of the inside of a poppy) just make me happy.

Gallery Update, Live Readings and Coffee

Things are hopping here so this is just a fast update until I can get back here with a proper post.

First, Fortunate Discoveries is GORGEOUS!! I am SO happy to be representing my work with the other artists there. From the location, to the gallery layout, to the quality of art and diversity of talent it is absolutely outstanding. If you are in Lincoln Park, do plan to stop by and see the selections. And if you are looking for food while you are there, try the Ja'Grill. The Jerk Catfish is unbelievable. Cut thick like salmon steaks, best catfish I've ever had.

Remember to mark your calendar for the Fortunate Discoveries Grand Opening on May 4th 6-9 pm. I'll be unveiling a few works only Erin and Scott have seen...

April 15th will find me at Water Street Studios in Batavia for the Waterline Writers' event. I will be doing my first public reading of an excerpt from the book I am working on behind the scenes.

And, in the month of May (a merry, merry month if there ever was one), I will have a few pieces on display at the Starbucks on Jefferson in Naperville. More on that as it gets closer.

Prairie Title Exhibit in Oak Park Sets Up This Week

Please mark your calendar to join us for the opening reception of this 4 artist exhibit at Prairie Title, a satellite gallery for the Oak Park Art League. The reception is on Thursday, March 15, 6-8. Refreshments will be served. The event is free to the public and displayed works are for sale. A portion of the proceeds from all sales goes to benefit OPAL's many fine activities. I will be doing an installation of Lake Michigan and Indiana Dune focused works.

Prairie Title Exhibit Reception Set for March 15th 6-8 pm

Prairie Title is a satellite gallery for the Oak Park Art League and features selected works by a group of four Artist members that rotates every two months. A great milestone was marked for me when I received a call inviting me to exhibit my work for the March-April show. My first invited exhibit!

Here's the part I'm a little nervous about and hope you can help me with: The fine folks at Prairie Title are kind enough to provide the wine and noshes for the evening but it is up to the artists to invite guests to the reception. Since I'm still getting started, I don't have a huge posse, so I'm hoping a few of you who know and love me will come out to support not just me but the other artists I will be showing with. I'm framing some new works for the event so it'll be nice and fresh for you. Bring your friends, it'll be fun!

Oak Park Art League Artist Member Exhibit, Reception 3/9/12

 

 

 

Please join us for an evening of wine, music, food and wonderful art as the Oak Park Art League presents its newest exhibit. This showing is exclusive to Artist Members (juried in as such by the league), working in any medium. I will have 3 works on exhibit there (and don't forget the Prairie Title exhibit coming the following week...I do hope you come to the reception there on the 15th!)
