So, I'm going through Dad's stuff and I found a horrendous Esther and Abi Ofarim album that contained such gawdawful songs as Cinderella Rockafella...here, just have a little listen...my words will never suffice:
And then, I find her again yesterday and she is Maria del mar Bonet deeeelishiousssss...gorgeous...
What a contrast. Sonny and Cher to Maria Del Mar Bonet, you said it. I surfed over to Wikipedia to read about her. CInderella Rockefella was a million seller, apparently! Seems she divorced in the early 70s and then, her solo work ever after was these haunting ballads. The contrast between her voice (lovely, and trained) and the tune in Cinderella Rockefella cracks me up. More evidence that that 60s drove lots of talented folks to some, umm.. interesting artistic decisions.
I am going with the excellent find.

I remember that dreadful song; Cinderella/Rockafella - it was No.1 in the Uk in the late 60s if memory serves me right...
