    Do You Have an Emergency Fund? Tips for How to Start One

    As someone who has had $15,000 in unanticipated expenses since April (yes you read that correctly) and whose emergency fund is pretty well...um, okay, completely, gone as a result, I have to tell you this post at Zen Habits is really worth a read.

    Everyone I've tutored along the way financially I've tried to instill the concept. It's good to plan for a tough storm, even if it were to never hit.

    If I didn't have my emergency fund I wouldn't have been able to take the leap I am now. It is painful to draw from it, but boy am I glad I instituted the policy with myself way back when.
