Great quote today in the Chicago Tribune by Atlanta life coach, Nancy Gerber:
If life is a ball of yarn, therapy helps you unravel the tangles. Coaching helps you knit a sweater.

they have such a great way of being so smugly free - even the cossetted ones - don't they!
"i have enough"...
i remember reading that a few days ago and it resounding quite clearly.
it's a good lesson to learn, and the only way we can really learn it, and really not immerse ourselves in the "more than enough" is to struggle financially. i wish you luck. enjoy the free stuff and the challenge! and congratulations (and admiration) on not wanting revenge ... that's a whole other lesson in itself. with love xxx

While I love the quote -- now I'm afraid I've been doing "therapy" wrong for a long. long time....I've always been more interested in the gorgeous, richly coloured and patterned sweaters (and other things) that my clients are creating than sitting around unraveling frayed bits. Let's cut and splice the "healthy" threads to keep us going...and maybe do a bit of exploration as to why new threads keep breaking, if absolutely necessary. (I don't even call what I do therapy, but some of my clients like to.)
In all seriousness, I wonder if many of the "therapy" vs coaching comparisons aren't using a single (and increasingly outmoded) style of "therapy" as the comparison?

I agree Jacqui, it's funny how we need the struggle to learn the lesson. We just don't question things when they work for us, do we? Even though the cup passed on the tax issue, the clarity facing the possibility of problems was invaluable. I take it just as seriously even though it was just a trial run lesson.
"Enough". It really is a beautiful word.
And Karen, you raise an excellent point. We can certainly get a little ham-handed with the overly simplistic depictions of both coaching and therapy. Thank you for your words of caution.
